Level 2 Award In Door Supervision

All Door Supervisors must hold a valid licence issued by the Security Industry Authority (SIA) under the Private Security Industry Act 2001. This Level 2 Award in Door Supervision which Safe & Sound Training UK Limited offer is a nationally recognised qualification and is the security industry standard. Delegates who successfully complete this course will meet one of the requirements to apply for their SIA Door Supervisor licence.

This Level 2 Award in Door Supervision enables those who wish to work within the security industry as a Door Supervisor. Endorsed by the SIA and regulated by Ofqual, this qualification is awarded to delegates who successfully complete four units:

  • Working in the Private Security Industry
  • Working as a Door Supervisor
  • Conflict Management for the Private Security Industry
  • Physical Intervention Skills for the Private Security Industry

Level 2 Award In Security Guarding

This qualification is suitable for all persons already working, or preparing to work in an industry that requires First Aid as being lower risk. Persons gaining this qualification will know that First Aid is the responsibility of everyone involved in the working environment. Its topics are regarded by the Health & Safety Executive as being important to maintaining good practice in the safe, prompt and effective treatment of injuries and ill health in the workplace.

This qualification in First Aid at Work is suitable for all persons who wish to become a First Aider in the workplace for the purposes of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. This qualification is intended for persons already working or preparing to work in an industry. External Defibrillator Add On (AED)

This qualification is for persons who wish for further training, or to develop knowledge and/or skills in this subject area. It is recommended as training for first aiders in the workplace environment who have access to a defibrillator. Learners gaining this qualification will know that Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillation form an essential part of the chain of survival. The topics covered are regarded by Skills for Health as being important to maintaining good practice in the safe, prompt and effective administration of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and automated external defibrillation.

Fire Marshal Certification

This 5 hour course covers the role of the designated fire marshal. It also gives you the opportunity to learn about the different types of fire extinguisher and how to use them correctly. This course is suitable for those who are responsible for overseeing fire safety, designated fire marshals and anyone who needs to know how to use a fire extinguisher. This course will present an insight into fire regulations and general fire precautions. It aims to provide you with the knowledge to be become a fire marshal.

This course will cover the following aspects of being a fire marshal:

  • The role of the fire marshal
  • Liaison with the fire service
  • Action on discovering a fire
  • Fire safety legislation
  • The chemistry of fire
  • Common causes of fire

Manual Handling

The Level 2 Award in Safe Moving and Handling is intended as an introduction to moving and handling activities for those starting work, returning to work or who need specific training in manual handling, as well as being a suitable qualification for refresher training. Persons gaining this qualification will understand that moving and handling must be carried out correctly and will recognise its importance in ensuring a safer working environment. This qualification reflects the requirements of the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 (amended 2002).

Physical Intervention In The Private Security Industry

The Physical Intervention Skills for the Private Security Industry unit is intended for people who want to work in the private security industry and who require an SIA licence to practice. It is a mandatory unit in the Level 2 Award in Door Supervision in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The unit covers the knowledge and understanding of physical intervention techniques as relevant to the role of the door supervisor and the main subject areas covered are:

  • The principles of physical intervention skills appropriate to their role
  • The legal and professional implications of using physical intervention skills
  • How to reduce the risk of harm
  • Using non-aggressive physical skills
  • Good practice to follow after physical intervention skills are used

Delegates are assessed through a practical assessment.

Conflict Management

The Conflict Management for the Private Security Industry unit is intended for people who want to work in the private security industry and who require an SIA licence to practice. It is a mandatory unit in both the Level 2 Award in Door Supervision and the Level 2 Award in Security Guarding.

The unit covers the knowledge and understanding and/or skills for areas that are relevant to front line roles and the main subject areas covered are:

  • The principles of conflict management
  • How to recognise, assess and reduce risk in conflict situations
  • How to communicate effectively in emotive situations and de-escalate conflict
  • How to develop and use problem solving strategies for resolving conflict
  • Good practice to follow after conflict situations

Delegates are assessed through a multiple choice examination.
